Research on multiculturalism in Victoria

CLAIR Sydney accompanied Professor Keizo Yamawaki (Meiji University, Tokyo) on his trip to Victoria from August 27 to 31. Professor Yamawaki and his students undertook the trip to learn about multiculturalism in Victoria.

The delegation met with city officials in Ballarat and Melton, both of which are renowned member cities of the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities Network. The delegation also visited the Multicultural Affairs and Social Cohesion Division of the Victorian State Government, state schools, and the Immigration Museum to discuss challenges regarding multiculturalism.

We will continue to research multicultural initiatives and practices in Australia and support Japanese local governments’ policy planning.
