Support activities for the Hokkaido Legislative Members Association for JPN-AUS Friendship Promotion

From 17 to 20 November, The Hokkaido Legislative Members Association for JPN-AUS Friendship Promotion visited Sydney and Brisbane to learn more about Australia and to promote Hokkaido prefecture. CLAIR accompanied them during their time in Australia to support their activities.

The association was established in June 2017 by members of the Hokkaido Legislative assembly who recognize the importance of the Japan–Australia relationship and would like to further build on this thriving connection. The relationship is further bolstered by the presence of the Australian Consulate-General in Sapporo and the strong Australian presence in Niseko.

During the delegation’s time in Brisbane, the Consul-General of Japan in Brisbane held a reception for the assembly members to promote the Hokkaido-Australia relationship. The reception was a great success with attendees including Queensland Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Grace Grace MP and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Peter Wellington MP.The delegation visited CLAIR Sydney, Austrade and other relevant government organisations during their visit to Australia to discuss the Japan–Australia relationship and ways to further promote Hokkaido inbound tourism.
