2008 CLAIR Sydney Local Government Seminar

This seminar was most timely in view of the new federal government’s proposals to re-shape the Australian federation, and continuing moves by the NSW Local Government and Shires Associations to negotiate an inter-government agreement with the State government.

Mr Toshihiko Yokoo, Mayor of Taku City and one of seven members of appointed by the Prime Minister to serve in the Decentralization Reform

Other speakers:
Mr Ross Woodward, Deputy Director General of the NSW Department of Local Government

Councillor Robert Bell, Vice President of the NSW Local Government Association represented LGSA

Mr Stephen Blackadder, formerly General Manager of Warringah Council, represented Local Government Managers Australia.


The seminar was chaired by Robert Mellor of the UTS Centre for Local Government.
