The 3rd CLAIR Sydney Local Government Seminar

 

Fresh Thinking on Waste Management
– Ideas from Japan-

Past and present waste management and recycling systems and operations in Japan were introduced in this seminar. Experiences from both Australia and Japan were exchanged and current challenges of waste management and environmental policy were explored.

Metoropolitan Governance - Ideas from Japan

Following the recent announcement of the federal government’s new Major Cities Unit this timely seminar focused on the challenges that modern cities face both in Japan and in Australia, and explored current issues in metropolitan governance, infrastructure & planning and community engagement.

Keynote Speaker:
Prof Akira Nakamura, from Meiji University in Tokyo, is a former member of the UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) and is currently Chair of the Program and Research Advisory Committee of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and President of the Japan Emergency Management Association.
